TNB will cooperate with authorities investigating an electrical incident that injured three teenagers during a temple procession in Alor Setar after a flagpole allegedly came too close to a high-voltage power line

ALOR SETAR: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will give its full cooperation to the authorities investigating an incident in which three teenagers were injured by electric shocks during a temple procession here last night.

In a post on its TNB Careline Facebook page, the company said preliminary investigations indicated that the incident was believed to have occurred when a flagpole carried during the procession came too close to a high-voltage transmission line, triggering an electrical arc flash.

“The public is advised to always prioritise safety and ensure that tall objects, including flagpoles, are kept at a safe distance from power lines.

“TNB deeply sympathises with those affected by the incident and prays for the speedy recovery of all victims receiving treatment,” it said today.

The incident occurred at about 9 pm when strong winds during light rain caused the flag to sway towards the power line.

Two of the victims were 17, while the third was 16. They were rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here.
