UniSZA presents RM7,000 from its welfare fund to the family of student Syakirah Hanan Mazli, who died in a fatal collision near the campus.
JERTIH: Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has contributed RM7,000 to the family of its late student, Syakirah Hanan Mazli.
The donation from the university’s Student Welfare and Protection Fund was presented to her father, Mazli Yusoh, at their home in Kampung Alor Selinsing.
UniSZA deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Hafiz Yusoff said it was a gesture of sympathy and support.
“UniSZA extends its deepest condolences on the loss of Syakirah Hanan and reaffirms its dedication to student welfare,” he said in a statement.
The 25-year-old postgraduate student died in a traffic accident at a junction on Jalan Kemajuan on January 5.
She was struck head-on by a high-speed Honda Jazz while turning in her Perodua Viva near the university campus.
Syakirah Hanan, a second-semester Postgraduate Diploma in Education student, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Jazz, Mohd Izuddin Zakaria, 32, was later ordered by the Magistrate’s Court to undergo a psychiatric assessment. – Bernama
