UniSZA launches BRIGHT programme with RM300,000 for B40 postgraduate scholarships, offering up to RM75,000 for PhD and RM50,000 for Master’s studies.
KUALA NERUS: Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has launched the UniSZA BRIGHT Programme to provide postgraduate study opportunities for B40 students.
The initiative, a first for the university, collaborates with industry partners to raise and channel scholarship funds.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Datok Dr Fadzli Adam (pic) said RM300,000 has been secured initially to sponsor five selected students.
The funding will support two Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and three Master’s students in fields like Islamic Economics and Halal Management.
“This programme is being introduced for the first time by UniSZA to provide opportunities for undergraduate students, particularly from the B40 group, to further their studies to a higher level,” he said at the launch.
Recipients are eligible for up to RM50,000 for Master’s studies and RM75,000 for PhD programmes.
The funding covers tuition fees, living allowances, research grants and publication costs.
Fadzli said the programme serves as a catalyst for building a sustainable postgraduate ecosystem.
The university aims to raise RM1 million by the end of next year to finance more students in fields like medicine and law.
“We are intensifying efforts and cooperation with industry partners to secure more funds to expand this initiative,” he added.
Applications for the programme will open on Jan 1, 2026 and close on Feb 15.
