Perak announces RM500 incentive for media practitioners

Perak media practitioners to receive a one-off RM500 incentive as a token of appreciation for their role in disseminating state policies.

IPOH: Media practitioners in Perak will receive a one-off incentive of RM500 as a token of appreciation for their work.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the media is part of the ecosystem that helps strengthen governance.

He stated that many state government initiatives touch on daily life and must be conveyed clearly to be understood.

“Our journalists need to be appreciated — not much, just what we are able to give as a token of appreciation,” he said at the Perak Sejahtera Media Night 2025.

Saarani added that the media has played a significant role in realising the Perak Sejahtera 2030 agenda.

He noted that daily stories of the plan’s successes in headlines provide motivation for further achievements.

“The fact is, many of the things we do would not reach the people without the hard work of journalists, photographers, editors, portal writers, broadcasters and the entire media ecosystem,” he said.

At the ceremony, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) won eight awards.
