Former ministry chief Ruji Ubi contests Merotai seat in Sabah polls

Ex-National Unity Ministry secretary-general Ruji Ubi leverages administrative experience in Merotai state seat contest against Warisan incumbent.

TAWAU: Former National Unity Ministry secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi aims to leverage his government experience to drive development in Merotai as Pakatan Harapan’s candidate.

The retired senior civil servant said he chose early retirement specifically to contribute his expertise to his home constituency.

“I have returned to my hometown, and I pray that the people of Merotai will be open-minded in choosing me to serve them,” he told reporters at SRJK Cina Yuk Cin nomination centre.

Ruji highlighted his administrative background as secretary-general in three ministries – Education, Home, and National Unity – plus his role as Sabah State Development director.

He noted that despite being new to electoral politics, his government service involved extensive travel throughout Sabah, including Merotai, Kalabakan and Tawau.

The candidate confirmed receiving support from Harapan Rakyat, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and other Unity Government parties for the election campaign.

Incumbent Sarifuddin Hata of Parti Warisan emphasized his party’s ground achievements despite five years in opposition.

The Warisan candidate said grassroots support remains strong for local parties governing Sabah, similar to Sarawak’s model.

Returning officer Murad Abd Rashid confirmed a four-cornered fight featuring Ruji, Sarifuddin, Perikatan Nasional’s Hasan Haris and Parti Impian Sabah’s Rhyme @ Reymie Kassim.

Early voting for the Sabah state election will occur on November 25, with polling day set for November 29. – Bernama

Alfa Romeo Marks the Quadrifoglio Legacy with Exclusive Giulia and Stelvio Collezione Models

Alfa Romeo has introduced two highly exclusive creations, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Collezione and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Collezione, developed in tribute to one of the brand’s most enduring icons — the Quadrifoglio. The emblem, first painted onto Ugo Sivocci’s Alfa Romeo RL when he won the 1923 Targa Florio, became the mark of the brand’s racing machinery for decades. In 1963 it shifted from the circuit to the road with the Giulia Ti Super, and from then on it distinguished Alfa Romeo’s most powerful and exclusive road-going models. That pivotal year forms the inspiration for this new Collezione series, which has been limited to just 63 units worldwide. Two Giulia units have been earmarked for the UK, while the rest will be distributed across Europe, the Middle East, China and Japan.
