GRS chairman Hajiji Noor expresses confidence in winning more than 40 of 55 contested seats, citing strong machinery and grassroots support
BEAUFORT: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is confident of securing more than 40 of the 55 state seats it is contesting in the November 29 Sabah state election.
GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this confidence stems from strong party machinery, solid grassroots support, and excellent cooperation among coalition components.
“We are indeed targeting more seats and we are confident that we can defend the government because more than 37 seats are for a simple majority,” he told reporters after attending a Session with the People under the ‘Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga’ campaign at Dataran Bagandang Beaufort.
Hajiji praised the service records of GRS candidates Datuk Isnin Aliasnih @ Liasnih (Klias) and Datuk Ruslan Muharam (Lumadan), urging voters to grant them a new mandate.
“Their record as elected representatives for five years is very good and convincing, that’s why we chose them again,” he said, adding that he maintains detailed records of their accomplishments.
The GRS chairman emphasised that his coalition has been a fair government implementing development initiatives regardless of race, ethnicity, or belief.
He highlighted four main thrusts of GRS administration covering agriculture, industry, tourism, and human capital development with education.
“Real evidence shows that Sabah is more advanced than before because after COVID-19, we revived the economy through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya policy,” Hajiji stated.
He cited the SOGIP Industrial Park in Sipitang as an example, noting it is already fully occupied despite being in early stages, which will benefit Beaufort, Klias, and Lumadan residents.
Hajiji also announced the provision of two additional dialysis machines for the Klias and Lumadan areas to serve local medical needs. – Bernama
