Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urges early voters in Johor’s state election to cast ballots for a better future, as polling begins.
JOHOR BAHRU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today extended his best wishes to all early voters casting their ballots in the 16th Johor state election.
In his Facebook post, Anwar, who chairs Pakatan Harapan (PH), hoped that all eligible voters would do their part to secure the best for Johor.
“Happy voting to all early voters in the Johor state election. Do your best for this state.
“Choose Harapan candidates for a better future for Johor. Vote Harapan,” he said in the post.
A total of 24,751 eligible early voters will cast their ballots at 64 polling centres across the state today.
The early voters include 12,041 Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel and their spouses, along with 12,710 Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and General Operations Force personnel and their spouses.
A total of 53 early polling centres for PDRM and another 11 for the MAF will open simultaneously at 8 am today, with closing times staggered between noon and 6 pm depending on the location and number of registered voters.
PH is fielding candidates in all 56 state seats, comprising 20 from PKR, 19 from Amanah and 17 from DAP.
The state polls feature 172 candidates competing, as 2.7 million voters prepare to head to the polls on Saturday.
