New cabinet to be sworn in at palace tomorrow

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirms the swearing-in ceremony for the Madani government’s ministers and deputy ministers will be held at Istana Negara.

PUTRAJAYA: The oath-taking ceremony for ministers and deputy ministers in the Madani Government Cabinet will be held at Istana Negara tomorrow.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has consented to grace the event at 10 am.

He announced this during a media conference on the new cabinet lineup here today.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the Cabinet meeting will commence at 2.30 pm tomorrow.

He expressed his appreciation to the ministers and deputy ministers who had contributed their services to the Madani Government Cabinet.

Earlier, Anwar announced the appointment of new ministers and several portfolio changes.

He said the new appointment was to shift attention to undertaking fresher economic development and resolving the people’s problems.

This is the maiden Cabinet reshuffle of the Unity Government under Anwar’s leadership since the first one in December 2023.

The cabinet had four vacancies prior to the reshuffle.

These followed the resignations of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli as Economy Minister, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sustainability, and Datuk Ewon Benedick as Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development.

The post of Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, held by Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, also became vacant following the conclusion of his senatorship.
