Sabah polls: New faces signal BN’s commitment to change

BN’s fresh candidates for Sabah polls show commitment to leadership renewal and state progress, says Mohamed Khaled.

KOTA TINGGI: The introduction of new Barisan Nasional candidates for Sabah’s state election demonstrates the coalition’s commitment to leadership renewal.

UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this reflects BN’s seriousness in fielding capable candidates to drive Sabah’s development.

“This shows BN is serious about bringing change and also providing opportunities for new and young candidates who may be able to bring better progress to Sabah,” he told reporters after launching a Defence Ministry programme here today.

The Defence Minister emphasised that Sabah’s development requires close collaboration with the federal government.

“Sabah, like any other state, requires close ties with the federal government if it is to be developed properly,” he added.

Regarding BN’s election poster boy, Mohamed Khaled said the party chairman would announce this at the appropriate time.

Sabah BN recently announced 41 candidates featuring 85% new faces, including young professionals.

The coalition aims to implement significant changes and lift Sabah out of poverty through this fresh lineup.

Polling is scheduled for November 29 with nominations on November 15. – Bernama
