PTPK confirms all student funding continues with increased living allowances, denying claims of halted B40 support.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) has not halted funding for any student, including those from low-income B40 families.
Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad stated that allegations of PTPK repeatedly stopping aid to B40 students are baseless.
He confirmed the corporation had issued a media statement on September 11 to address and clarify these claims.
As of August 2025, PTPK had approved loans and held active financing commitments totalling RM524 million.
This funding benefits 52,098 students across 306 training centres nationwide.
“Of this total, 21,947 students had their loans approved in 2025,” said Abdul Rahman.
“All approved students continue to receive financing and living allowances as usual.”
He also announced that the living allowance has been increased from RM400 to RM800 per student.
Abdul Rahman was responding to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Abd Muttalib regarding claims that PTPK’s living allowances had been discontinued.
The 2025 financing prioritises skills programmes for high-growth, high-value sectors and industries.
This alignment supports priority areas of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 including maintenance, repair and overhaul, electric vehicles, aerospace, and artificial intelligence.
Future PTPK funding allocations will prioritise high-impact programmes and loan repayment performance.
Additional considerations include adherence to application requirements and post-training employment placement.
On employability, Abdul Rahman noted that nearly 100% of students who completed PTPK training have secured jobs.
A small minority remain unemployed by choice while seeking positions better suited to their qualifications. – Bernama
