Regional women leaders unite at WE2025 to drive economic empowerment

WE2025 inaugural summit brings 10,000 visitors and women leaders together to boost trade, investment and leadership across ASEAN region.

KUALA LUMPUR: The inaugural WE2025 summit launched today as a regional platform uniting women leaders in trade, investment and innovation.

Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin officiated the three-day event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

The summit attracted approximately 10,000 visitors, 150 exhibitors, 1,000 delegates and over 80 speakers.

WE2025 focuses on five key pillars: Women Economics, Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, Excellence and Evolution.

Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib emphasised women’s leadership as a strategic national need.

“Malaysia’s future depends on efforts to unlock the full potential of every citizen,” she said in her speech.

She noted that women’s empowerment forms a key focus area of the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Qube Integrated Malaysia executive chairman Richard Teo said the platform expands women’s leadership networks.

The event aligns with ASEAN’s inclusive growth agenda, according to the WE2025 co-chairman.

Attendees included former Kosovo president Atifete Jahjaga and MATRADE deputy CEO Abu Bakar Yusof.

Bernama CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Qube Integrated managing director Jessie Tan also participated.

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin witnessed a memorandum of understanding exchange between two organisations.

The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance and National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia established a regional office.

This positions Malaysia as a strategic hub for women’s economic cooperation with BRICS member states.

Her Royal Highness visited the trade exhibition featuring women’s micro-enterprises.

The WE2025 Marketplace showcased businesses at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development booth.

Qube Integrated Malaysia organised WE2025 in collaboration with the women’s ministry.

Supporting agencies include MITI, MATRADE, MyCEB and MITEC.
