Singaporean motorcyclist dies in three-vehicle expressway crash

A Singaporean motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle collision on the North-South Expressway near Kulai, with police investigating the cause of the fatal accident.

KULAI: A 31-year-old Singaporean man was killed in a three-vehicle collision on the North-South Expressway early this morning.

Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee said the crash, involving a Yamaha motorcycle, a Proton car, and a Ford pickup truck, occurred at Kilometre 25.1 southbound at about 3 am.

Preliminary investigations indicate the motorcyclist lost control and skidded into the middle of the road.

The rider was then struck by a Proton car driven by a 46-year-old local man who was unable to avoid the fallen motorcycle in the left lane.

The impact sent the motorcycle into the right lane where it was hit a second time by a Ford pickup truck driven by a 45-year-old Pakistani national.

The motorcyclist sustained severe bodily injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

ACP Tan urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Insp Ahmad Safuan Abu Naim at 017-7573507.

Witnesses can also contact the Kulai district police headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division to assist with the ongoing probe.
