Sultan Ibrahim’s state visit to boost Malaysia-Saudi ties

King of Malaysia’s state visit to Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen trade, investment and Islamic cooperation between both nations

RIYADH: Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, begins his state visit to Saudi Arabia tomorrow to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand strategic cooperation.

Malaysia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Datuk Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman stated the visit would elevate Malaysia-Saudi Arabia ties to greater heights.

“This visit further consolidates existing cooperation while opening doors to new joint ventures,” he told Bernama.

Syed Bakri highlighted strong potential for Malaysian companies to invest in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing economy under Vision 2030.

The Saudi government warmly anticipates Sultan Ibrahim’s arrival and has extended full cooperation for the visit’s success.

This marks the first state visit by a Malaysian monarch since the late Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah in 1984.

“The Saudi government is according His Majesty and the delegation the highest level of state hospitality,” Syed Bakri added.

The Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh made comprehensive arrangements with multiple government agencies to ensure smooth proceedings.

Sultan Ibrahim is scheduled to hold a four-eyed meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Yamamah Palace.

Twelve high-level exchanges have occurred between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in the first ten months of this year.

Saudi Arabia ranks as Malaysia’s 14th largest trading partner with total trade valued at RM44.74 billion.

Beyond economic cooperation, both nations maintain close bonds through hajj and umrah management.
