Sultanah Nur Zahirah calls on UMT to produce graduates with communication skills, leadership, critical thinking and resilience for Society 5.0.
KUALA NERUS: The Sultanah of Terengganu Sultanah Nur Zahirah has urged Universiti Malaysia Terengganu to enhance graduate marketability in today’s competitive employment landscape.
As UMT Chancellor, she emphasised the need for graduates possessing not only knowledge and skills but also communication abilities, leadership qualities, critical thinking and resilience.
Her Royal Highness highlighted the rapid transformation within higher education, including advancements in artificial intelligence and virtual environments.
“Universities need to be leaders in implementing new technologies to create a knowledgeable, innovative and ethical society in line with the aspiration towards Society 5.0,” she stated.
“Nowadays, learning is no longer limited to the classroom, but can instead occur interactively and independently in a digital space without borders,” she added during the 23rd UMT Convocation Ceremony at Sultan Mizan Hall.
Sultanah Nur Zahirah also congratulated UMT on its achievements in national and international university rankings.
She expressed confidence that UMT could strengthen its position as a leader in marine science and aquatic resources.
“I believe that with a clear focus, recognised expertise and extensive strategic networks, UMT is able to establish itself as a leading reference centre in this region,” she said.
Her Royal Highness reminded graduates to contribute to the university as alumni. – Bernama
