Communications Minister advises teachers to use AI and digital platforms to create engaging learning sessions aligned with current requirements.
KUALA PILAH: Teachers should leverage digital technology including virtual learning platforms, artificial intelligence, interactive applications and open digital resources to make teaching sessions more engaging.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil stated that modern educators serve as architects of digital learning who guide students toward self-directed and creative development.
He emphasised that students must become tech-savvy individuals who think critically and use cyberspace ethically while adapting to new technologies.
Fahmi’s speech was delivered by Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general Mano Verabathran during the Kuala Pilah District Education Office’s Digital Carnival.
The minister acknowledged that despite digital benefits in education, the public must remain vigilant about internet risks, artificial intelligence challenges and cybersecurity threats.
He revealed that the Communications Ministry launched the Safe Internet Campaign in mid-January through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to enhance public online safety literacy.
A key campaign focus ensures children under 13 cannot have social media accounts while older users must exercise responsibility and prudence.
Fahmi confirmed the government is considering raising the minimum social media age limit to 16 years for enhanced safety and social ill prevention.
He described the digital carnival as more than just competitions or exhibitions but as a platform for meaningful technology integration in education.
The minister praised the initiative as evidence that Kuala Pilah embraces government calls and leads digital education transformation at grassroots levels. – Bernama
