Verify influenza test kit registration before purchase says MDA

The public must check influenza test kit registration status on the MDA portal before buying to ensure safety and quality standards.

PUTRAJAYA: The public should verify the registration status of influenza test kits on the official Medical Device Authority portal before any purchase or use.

This check ensures the products meet all required safety and performance standards.

Influenza test kits are now available at licensed pharmacies nationwide according to an MDA statement.

All such kits sold in the market must be registered with the authority to guarantee their quality, safety, and effectiveness.

Hospitals, clinics, and all public and private healthcare facilities must source their influenza test kits only from MDA-registered manufacturers, importers, or distributors.

All registered establishments must maintain a consistent and adequate supply of these kits to prevent any disruption for healthcare providers.

The MDA specifically advised healthcare professionals against purchasing test kits through e-commerce platforms.

They should instead buy directly from licensed pharmacies or the official online platforms of registered manufacturers.

The authority will conduct spot checks at government and private hospitals and pharmacies to ensure full compliance.

Ongoing MDA monitoring has identified a shortage of influenza test kits at several pharmacies and healthcare facilities.

The MDA is taking swift action to replenish supplies and ensure sufficient distribution to meet current demand.

Any smuggling, distribution, or sale of unregistered influenza test kits is strictly prohibited.

Stern action will be taken against any individuals or entities involved in such illegal activities. – Bernama

Toyota Pushes Ahead With Mid-Engined Development

Toyota is moving forward with its mid-engined sports car programme, even after early reports suggested the development team had run into major challenges with its GR Yaris M Concept test car. Instead of slowing down, engineers refined the prototype and recently secured a third-place finish in their class in Japan’s Super Taikyu Series, signalling that progress remains steady. This project has been under development for some time and is widely believed to be the foundation for a new-generation MR2. Until the production model is ready, Toyota is using a heavily modified GR Yaris to test its mid-engine layout, convinced that the setup has the potential to outperform what the current Yaris platform can achieve.
