KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin has filed a notice of appeal against her conviction and five-year jail sentence for neglecting her autistic son.
Lawyer Haresh Mahadevan confirmed the notice was filed at the Shah Alam High Court on behalf of his client Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 30.

Her husband Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, 30, who faced the same charge, was acquitted in the same proceedings.
Ismanira was also sentenced to 120 hours of community service to be completed within six months after her jail term ends.

The alleged neglect occurred between noon on December 5 and 9.55 pm on December 6, 2023.
