PETALING JAYA: Malaysians can now report smoking violations directly to health authorities without confronting offenders, following the launch of MyLapor, a new digital complaint system aimed at strengthening enforcement of the country’s anti-smoking laws.

The Health Ministry said the platform, which began operating today (Oct 12), allows the public to report offences under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852), including violations of smoking restrictions.

Unlike conventional complaint procedures, reports submitted through MyLapor will be automatically directed to the nearest District Health Office based on the location of the alleged offence, allowing enforcement officers to respond more quickly.

The ministry said the system would also eliminate lengthy complaint referral processes while enabling authorities to identify areas requiring closer monitoring and targeted enforcement.

Members of the public can lodge complaints through the MySejahtera application, scan the MyLapor QR code or access the platform directly at https://kkmhub.moh.gov.my/mylapor/public.

Complainants will also be able to receive updates on the status of their reports through MySejahtera, allowing them to track complaints after submission.

The ministry said MyLapor would encourage greater public participation in enforcing smoking restrictions, particularly by allowing individuals to report offences without having to confront those responsible.

It added that the initiative would help protect the public, especially children, from exposure to second-hand smoke while promoting cleaner and healthier public spaces.

The ministry urged Malaysians to use the platform responsibly by providing accurate and complete information to facilitate investigations.

Premises owners and operators were also encouraged to display MyLapor QR codes prominently and ensure compliance with smoking restrictions at their establishments.

The initiative forms part of the ministry’s wider digitalisation efforts to improve complaint management, strengthen enforcement and encourage public involvement in protecting public health.
