Melaka state government is processing 1,110 land applications, with a focus on providing opportunities for first-time landowners.
ALOR GAJAH: The Melaka state government is currently processing 1,110 Government Land Applications submitted since early 2023.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the evaluation process is rigorous and requires applicants to have no prior land ownership.
This initiative highlights the state government’s commitment to providing land ownership opportunities for those without property.
Ab Rauf spoke to reporters after officiating the Pantai Belimbing Roundabout Intersection project.
He also presented land application approval letters during the ‘Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat’ programme under the Durian Tunggal State Legislative Assembly.
For 2025, the state has received 263 applications and approved 163 in the Alor Gajah district.
Land Administrators have subsequently issued 5A Notices for these approved applications.
Sixteen approval letters were distributed to successful recipients at the event.
Ab Rauf expressed his belief that these recipients can now feel relieved as their dream of land ownership becomes reality.
Fourteen recipients received land allocations from the railway reserve in Kampung Gangsa Belimbing and Parit Melana.
The Melaka Islamic Religious Council received land for the Taman Vista Belimbing Mosque site.
The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council received land for a vehicle depot and logistics site.
The state government has set a lower payment rate for recipients of land from the Railway Reserve.
Costs for this land range from RM11,000 to RM49,000 depending on the size of the plot.
This approach demonstrates the government’s commitment to affordable land ownership opportunities.
Ab Rauf emphasised that land is not just an asset but a trust ensuring welfare for current and future generations. – Bernama
