Rubber tapper pleads guilty to slashing man with machete

A 54-year-old rubber tapper pleads guilty to causing grievous hurt by slashing a man with a machete in Pasir Puteh, facing up to 20 years imprisonment.

KOTA BHARU: A rubber tapper has pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a man by slashing him with a machete.

Noradin Ibrahim, aged 54, entered his plea before Judge Zulkifli Abdullah.

He faced charges for seriously injuring 44-year-old Ahmad Firhan Hadi Hamzah at a house in Kampung Kulim, Pasir Puteh, around 6 pm on October 28.

The offence falls under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment plus potential fines or whipping.

Judge Zulkifli denied bail to the accused and scheduled December 3 for mention in the sentencing proceedings.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyafiqah Mohamad handled the prosecution while Noradin had no legal representation. – Bernama
