Perak education authorities activate flood preparedness plans to ensure smooth SPM 2025 examinations during potential disasters
SERI ISKANDAR: The Perak State Education Department has implemented comprehensive flood preparedness measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations.
State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah confirmed all preparations follow Ministry of Education guidelines.
He revealed the department conducted a briefing earlier this month on standard operating procedures for managing SPM candidates during disasters.
“The SOP has been in place for several years and now only needs to be monitored for compliance, ensuring that all candidates can sit for their examinations as scheduled,” he said.
All relevant parties including school principals and examination secretaries have received the guidelines and briefing.
Coordination extends to agencies like police, fire and rescue departments, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force for effective disaster response.
Khairudin emphasised these measures ensure all agencies can coordinate effectively to safely assist candidates in reaching examination centres during emergencies.
He made these comments during a press conference after launching Youth Smart Money Fest at Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak Branch.
Khairudin separately urged young people to enhance their financial literacy to navigate current economic challenges.
He specifically warned against unlicensed investment schemes promising quick returns that could trap unwary investors.
“Financial wisdom isn’t measured by the amount of money one has, but by how it is managed and utilised,” he stressed.
With numerous investment options available online, he emphasised the importance of distinguishing legitimate opportunities from potential traps.
He concluded that financial management skills have become essential life skills rather than just added advantages. – Bernama
