A 14-year-old in Kyiv stabbed a teacher and student before injuring himself, as police investigate possible Russian influence found on his phone.
KYIV: A 14-year-old Ukrainian teenager wounded a teacher and a fellow student in a school stabbing before also injuring himself.
The suspect was detained following the attack in Kyiv on Monday, according to prosecutors.
National police said they will investigate any possible Russian influence on the perpetrator.
Officers stated that correspondence with unknown individuals, likely representatives of the Russian special services, was found on his phone.
Ukraine and Russia have often accused each other of trying to recruit minors online during the nearly four-year war.
Photos released by police show the suspect in a T-shirt with a German inscription reading “Hitler kaputt,” or “Hitler is no more.”
He was also wearing a mask and a helmet during the attack.
His victims were hospitalised, police added.
Russia has long used World War II history to spread narratives labelling the Ukrainian leadership as “neo-Nazi.”
Kyiv and its Western allies deny these claims as baseless.
Next month will mark four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
