Johor authorities confirmed the raw water turbidity level in Sungai Johor Basin surged to 37,400 NTU compared to the normal level of around 400 NTU.
The pollution incident resulted from soil movement causing the collapse of a sixth sand washing pond at an inland sand mining site in Kota Tinggi.
The pond collapse contaminated Sungai Johor, triggering the widespread water supply disruptions across multiple districts. – Bernama
