Pearly-Thinaah must embrace high expectations, says coach

National women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah must get used to high expectations and targets after consistent performances, says coach Rosman Razak.

NATIONAL women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak says top pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah must accept that expectations are now sky-high following their consistent performances.

The world number two pair cannot escape the fact they are now among the world’s best and must set high targets for every tournament.

“They can’t escape the fact that they are now among the best,” Rosman said during a training session.

“I think they know it too… that whenever they go for a tournament, they have to set a high target always.”

He hopes the 2025 World Championships runners-up will maintain consistency and improve performance while staying injury-free ahead of next month’s SEA Games in Thailand and BWF World Tour Finals in China.

Pearly-Thinaah claimed their third title this season by winning the Japan Masters on Sunday, defeating Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi 22-20, 21-19 in the final.

Their other 2025 victories include the Thailand Open in May and last month’s Arctic Open.
