Malaysian cyclists dominate with three golds at ASEAN Track Series

Muhammad Ridwan Shahrom and Nurul Izzah Izzati win sprint golds, while Nur Aisyah claims elimination race title at the ASEAN Track Series in Nilai.

NATIONAL track cyclists Muhammad Ridwan Shahrom and Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri delivered golden performances at the ASEAN Track Series (President’s Cup) 1.

They emerged champions in their respective elite sprint events at the National Velodrome in Nilai.

Muhammad Ridwan showed nerves of steel to clinch the men’s elite sprint title after a tense final against South Korea’s Kim Geunwoo.

The closely contested showdown saw both riders tied 1-1 before the national rider sealed victory in the deciding race.

Nurul Izzah Izzati also continued her impressive form by dominating the women’s elite sprint final.

She defeated Hong Kong’s Yeung Cho Yiu in straight games to claim the gold medal.

Adding to Malaysia’s medal haul, Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir struck gold in the women’s elite elimination race final.

Uzbekistan’s Kozieva Nafosat settled for silver in that event.

China’s Chen Ning took home the bronze medal in the women’s elimination race. – Bernama
