Layla Sania returns with Mandopop ballad ‘Blessed To Have You’

Layla Sania and Brendon7an approach lost love through acceptance.

MALAYSIAN singer and actress Layla Sania has released her new Mandarin single 她有你真幸福 (Blessed To Have You), a duet with singer-songwriter and producer Brendon Tan Jun Xian, better known as Brendon7an.

Released on June 23, the 4-minute 39-second Mandopop ballad centres on accepting that a former partner has found happiness with someone else.

Rather than approaching the end of a relationship through anger or resentment, the song considers the process of letting go while remaining grateful for what the relationship once meant.

“What attracted me to this song was that it doesn’t portray heartbreak as anger or regret. Sometimes the hardest thing is accepting that someone you once loved is happier with somebody else,” Layle explained.

The single marks Layla’s first official release since becoming an independent artiste. She has previously worked as both a singer and actress and has developed a following among Mandarin-speaking audiences.

Brendon7an serves as the track’s featured vocalist and lyricist. He also co-wrote the music with Jinx Chin and Mingaling.

The song is the first collaboration between Layla and the production team of Brendon7an, Jinx and Mingaling. Its arrangement draws from traditional Mandarin ballads and incorporates contemporary R&B elements.

“We wanted to write a song that acknowledges heartbreak while still leaving room for gratitude and kindness. The song is about finding peace rather than holding on to pain,” Brendon7an said.

An accompanying music video was released on the same day. Directed by John Chion of Timez Art, the video features Layla and Brendon7an and follows the song’s themes of memory, recovery and acceptance after a relationship ends.

Blessed To Have You is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, KKBOX and other digital streaming platforms.
