Lewis Hamilton vows to overhaul his Ferrari team personnel after a miserable first year, marking 23 races without a podium finish.
ABU DHABI: Lewis Hamilton plans a significant shake-up of his personal team at Ferrari ahead of the 2026 season.
The seven-time world champion described his first year with the Italian team as a nightmare, having gone a record 23 races without a podium finish.
Hamilton admitted he was surprised by his own resilience during the most miserable run of form in his Formula One career.
“It’s been difficult,” he said ahead of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Confidence goes up and down, it comes with the territory.”
The Briton stated he still has full belief in his abilities, calling that the most important factor to hold onto.
He vowed there was “nothing that I can’t face moving forwards” after this season.
Hamilton confirmed he will make changes to his set-up for 2026 but declined to offer specific details on personnel.
“It’s not a straightforward process,” he explained.
“We are testing next week and then go back to the factory — and I have to decide what my approach is.”
He revealed he has documented what he felt went wrong each weekend and the decisions he took.
The factors for review include his personal personnel and team personnel, focusing on how to better utilise people.
“All this needs to be looked at in my personal space so we can optimise our teamwork,” he concluded. – AFP
