Bayern and Man Utd claim dramatic Women’s Champions League victories

Bayern Munich staged a stunning comeback against Arsenal while Manchester United defeated PSG in thrilling Women’s Champions League encounters.

BAYERN Munich produced a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat Arsenal 3-2 in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.

The German side overturned a two-goal deficit in a stunning turnaround at a packed stadium.

Manchester United also celebrated a memorable 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in their first European fixture at Old Trafford.

Arsenal had taken complete control with Emily Fox’s early header and Mariona Caldentey’s 23rd-minute strike from the edge of the box.

Bayern began their fightback when Alara scored in the 67th minute before substitute Pernille Harder equalised with a superb strike.

Glodis Viggosdottir completed the comeback by prodding home Klara Buehl’s low cross with just four minutes remaining.

Bayern coach Jose Barcala praised his team’s winning mentality after the dramatic victory.

“We always believe we can win the game even when we are 2-0 down,” Barcala told Disney+.

Arsenal boss Renee Slegers expressed disappointment at conceding three goals in one half.

The defeat leaves Arsenal in the play-off zone with two losses from three matches in the new format league phase.

Barcelona lead the 18-team standings after sweeping aside Belgian debutants OH Leuven 3-0.

Alexia Putellas opened the scoring with a penalty in first-half injury time before an own-goal extended their lead.

Irene Paredes completed the scoring to maintain Barcelona’s perfect record alongside Lyon.

Manchester United marked their historic Old Trafford European debut with a hard-fought victory over PSG.

Melvine Malard’s curling strike gave United the lead after the half-hour mark against former goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Olda Carmona equalised for PSG in first-half injury time with a strike reminiscent of her World Cup winner for Spain.

Fridolina Rolfo headed home the decisive goal on 58 minutes following excellent build-up play involving Jess Park and Anna Sandberg.

The victory maintained United’s perfect record in their debut Champions League campaign.

Midfielder Jess Park described the occasion as a lifetime opportunity for the team.
