FAM dismisses Cklamovski exit rumours as wild speculation

FAM acting president calls reports about Harimau Malaya coach Peter Cklamovski’s future “wild speculation” while awaiting FIFA’s written grounds on player case

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA acting president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi has dismissed speculation about national coach Peter Cklamovski’s future as unfounded rumours.

Mohd Yusoff described social media reports suggesting Tuesday’s Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal would be Cklamovski’s final match as mere speculation when questioned by reporters.

“No comment,” he stated after watching the Sultans’ Gold Cup final at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Stadium. “Mere speculation? I consider it wild too.”

The acting president also confirmed FAM has requested written grounds from FIFA following their rejected appeal regarding naturalised players’ documentation issues.

He could not anticipate when FIFA would respond to their recent submission regarding seven naturalised players’ cases.

“For now, we can only wait,” Mohd Yusoff explained. “After receiving written grounds from FIFA, we have 21 days to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

FIFA rejected appeals by FAM and seven naturalised players on November 3, upholding penalties for document falsification under Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

FAM was fined CHF350,000 (approximately RM1.8 million), while each player received CHF2,000 (about RM11,000) fines and 12-month suspensions from football activities.

Regarding the Sultans’ Gold Cup final, Mohd Yusoff described the 103rd edition as lively despite wet weather throughout the match.

Kuala Lumpur emerged champions with a slim 1-0 victory over Malaysian Armed Forces in the competition final. – Bernama
