Man City assistant Kolo Toure says Pep Guardiola’s energy and passion are as strong as ever as the club chases the Premier League title
MANCHESTER CITY assistant manager Kolo Toure insists Pep Guardiola’s passion for the game remains undimmed as he enters his 10th season in charge.
Guardiola is eager to return City to the trophy trail after a rare silverware-free campaign last season.
The champions now sit just two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Toure, who joined Guardiola’s backroom staff in pre-season, says the manager’s daily energy is incredible.
“The manager’s energy every day is incredible,” Toure told reporters on Friday.
“I’m so surprised, with all the years that he’s done in the league. The passion he brings to every meeting, the training sessions — he’s enjoying himself every day and we are enjoying it as well.”
The former City defender said that fighting spirit is evident in the team’s performances on the pitch.
Toure was speaking in place of Guardiola, who missed the press conference due to a personal matter.
The club expects Guardiola to be in the dugout as usual for the match at Selhurst Park.
“Pep is fine,” said Toure. “It’s just a small matter that didn’t bring him here.”
Toure described working with the first-team under Guardiola as a blessing and a dream come true.
“He loves his players, he loves his staff, his passion for the game is high, he’s intense,” Toure added. “We love him. I’m very lucky.” – AFP
