JDT secure late victory to extend unbeaten Super League run

Johor Darul Ta’zim edge Negeri Sembilan 1-0 with a stoppage-time winner, while Sabah FC and Kuala Lumpur City FC play out a 1-1 draw.

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim maintained their perfect start to the Super League season with a dramatic 1-0 win over Negeri Sembilan FC.

Manuel Hidalgo scored the decisive goal deep into stoppage time, heading home an Oscar Arribas cross at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium.

The match was a tense affair with both sides showing early aggression. Negeri Sembilan had a golden chance from a seventh-minute free kick but failed to capitalise.

JDT created several opportunities, with Oscar Arribas and Ager Aketxe both testing Negeri goalkeeper Muhammad Azri Abdul Ghani in the first half.

The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 52nd minute through Bergson, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

JDT’s pressure finally told in added time when Hidalgo rose to meet Arribas’s delivery and secure all three points.

In another Super League fixture, Sabah FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Kuala Lumpur City FC at the Likas Stadium.

KL City took a surprise lead in the 50th minute through a powerful strike from Safawi Rasid.

Sabah responded well and found an equaliser in the 67th minute through import striker Ajdin Mujagic.

Neither side could find a winner in the remaining minutes, resulting in a share of the points.
