Liverpool’s Bradley out for season with serious knee injury

Liverpool confirm Conor Bradley has a significant knee injury requiring surgery, ruling him out for the season and jeopardising his World Cup hopes.

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool have confirmed defender Conor Bradley will miss the rest of the season with a “significant” knee injury.

The right-back sustained the damage in the closing stages of Thursday’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Arsenal.

The club stated Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days before beginning a rehabilitation period.

While not an anterior cruciate ligament tear, the BBC reported the injury involves damage to the bone and ligament.

The setback is a major blow for both Liverpool and Northern Ireland.

Bradley is now a serious doubt for the World Cup should his national team qualify via play-offs in March.

The 22-year-old had been viewed as the natural successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield.

Injuries have limited his impact this season, forcing manager Arne Slot to use midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai as a deputy.

Liverpool remain active in three competitions, starting their FA Cup campaign at home to Barnsley.

They are fourth in the Premier League and on course for the Champions League knockout stages.

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli apologised after the match for attempting to push the injured Bradley off the pitch, mistakenly believing he was time-wasting.
