Dyche’s tenure ends after a goalless draw, making him the third Forest manager dismissed this season as the club fights relegation
NOTTINGHAM Forest have sacked manager Sean Dyche after just 114 days in charge. His final match was a goalless Premier League draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 54-year-old joined the club in October on a contract until the summer of 2027. He becomes the third manager dismissed this season, following Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.
The club confirmed the decision in a statement released early on Thursday. They thanked Dyche and his staff for their efforts and wished them well for the future.
Forest are currently 17th in the league after a three-game winless run. They sit just one place above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
Dyche appeared to anticipate the decision after the Wolves match, where Forest failed to score despite 35 attempts. “The owner (Evangelos Marinakis) has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt,” he said.
“If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision,” Dyche added. “If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now.”
His predecessor, Ange Postecoglou, lasted only 39 days in the role. That made him the shortest-serving permanent Premier League manager to be sacked mid-season.
Forest will now seek to appoint their fourth manager this season. Their next match is the first leg of a Europa League tie against Fenerbahce next Thursday.
