SEPANG: Young Malaysian rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli will start his Moto3 debut from 14th position on the grid for the 2025 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old Aeon Credit SIC Racing wildcard had aimed for a front-row start but finished Qualifying Session 2 in 14th place at Sepang International Circuit.

Hakim Danish had shown strong pace earlier by finishing sixth in Free Practice Session 2 with a time of 2 minutes 10.576 seconds.

His qualifying performance saw a slower lap time of 2 minutes 11.487 seconds under challenging conditions.

Leopard Racing’s David Almansa claimed pole position with a fastest lap of 2 minutes 09.846 seconds.

Honda Team Asia rider Taiyo Furusato secured second position with a time of 2 minutes 09.940 seconds.

Current 2025 season champion Jose Antonio Rueda of Red Bull KTM Ajo qualified third with 2 minutes 10.076 seconds.

Hakim Danish acknowledged making several mistakes and nearly crashing during the qualifying session.

He remains determined to deliver his best performance in tomorrow’s race despite the challenges.

The Malaysian rider admitted Moto3 competition is more demanding than JuniorGP and Red Bull Rookies Cup.

He expressed confidence in handling the pressure and improving his position during the race.

In the Moto2 class, Malaysian wildcards Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Muhammad Helmi Azman face a difficult starting position.

Both Petronas MIE Racing RW riders will begin from 29th and last place on the grid respectively.

Hakim Danish promised to keep pushing and make Malaysia proud in his premier class debut.

The Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix continues tomorrow with full race action across all categories. – Bernama
