Malaysia’s first lifestyle running festival at Bukit Jalil expects 30,000 visitors, featuring sports brands, running clubs and community events.

THE country’s running scene reaches a new milestone with the inaugural KL RunFest 2025, Malaysia’s first lifestyle running festival.

Organised by Unikorn Events Sdn Bhd, the four-day expo brings together over 200 local and international sports brands at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

The event unites running clubs, entrepreneurs and the active community under one roof until November 9.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim expects more than 30,000 visitors for this significant sports industry leap.

“This catalyst helps make sports activity a lifestyle for Malaysians while contributing to the economy,” he said after officiating the event.

He noted the sports economy is growing with a value of RM100 million this year.

“Marathons generate substantial economic spillovers,” Adam Adli added.

International athletes showcase Malaysia’s hosting capabilities and hospitality as key attractions.

KL RunFest 2025 features two main pavilions: the Business Pavilion for industry networking and the Community Pavilion gathering over 80 local running clubs.

Sixteen inspirational sharing sessions by sports community leaders will also be held.

Saturday’s community event, the KL RunFest Together-Gather Shake Out Run, expects about 800 elite and amateur runners.

The free 3.5km to 5km run flags off at 6:30am from Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Sunday’s signature Mizuno KL RunFest S/Ekiden Team Relay concludes the festival at 6:30am.

The 30km relay requires five-runner teams to complete 21 laps of the stadium track.

Co-founder Niklas Yong said organisers aim to drive the running industry’s rapid growth momentum.

“KL RunFest 2025 is an inclusive platform uniting every part of the running ecosystem,” he said.

The combination of exhibitions, races and community activities creates Malaysia’s largest one-stop hub for fitness enthusiasts.

This further energises running sport growth across the country. – Bernama
