Pearly-Thinaah set for SEA Games debut, aim to end Malaysia’s gold drought

World No. 2 pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are eager to win gold for Malaysia at the Thailand SEA Games, their first appearance at the biennial event.

KUALA LUMPUR: World number two women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are set to make their debut for Malaysia at the upcoming Thailand SEA Games.

The duo expressed eagerness to make a strong impact and bring pride to the nation at the biennial competition.

“We’re really excited to finally compete at the SEA Games,” said Thinaah in a statement issued by the Badminton Association of Malaysia.

“Every point counts, every match is important – and we’re ready to give everything we have.”

Malaysia’s challenge will also be bolstered by the world number 22 pair, Teoh Mei Xing and Go Pei Kee, in the women’s doubles and team events.

The national women’s doubles team last clinched SEA Games gold through Amelia Alicia Anscelly and Soong Fie Cho in 2015.

Malaysia’s women’s team event victory dates even further back, having last been secured in 2009. – Bernama
