Wei Chong-Kai Wun advance to Hylo Open second round after all-Malaysian clash

Malaysian men’s doubles Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun beat compatriots Yap Roy King-Wan Arif to reach Hylo Open second round in Germany.

NATIONAL men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun progressed to the second round of the Hylo Open 2025 after defeating their compatriots Yap Roy King and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi in Saarbrucken, Germany.

The world number five pair demonstrated great resilience during their opening match tonight.

They secured a hard-fought 21-16, 19-21, 21-16 victory in a match lasting 53 minutes.

Their success contrasted with another national pair’s result in the tournament.

Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi suffered a 16-21, 17-21 defeat to Indonesian duo Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana.

Wei Chong and Kai Wun are now set to face the Indonesian pair Leo Rolly and Bagas Maulana in the next round.

The country’s top two men’s doubles pairs are scheduled to play early tomorrow morning.

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik will be in action alongside Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani. – Bernama
