Hannah Yeoh stated in a separate announcement that her gesture acknowledged Wong Tat Meng’s significant contributions to Malaysian sports.

“I wanted coach Tat Meng to know he is not alone, not forgotten and that Malaysia remembers his contribution for sports and wants to see him back on his feet soon,” she said.

She described the gift as a simple token to uplift his spirits during this challenging period.

The 58-year-old former coach was involved in a serious motorcycle crash on September 7 along Putty Road in Garland Valley.

Wong Tat Meng previously coached the national badminton squad and professional men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia.

His coaching tenure with Lee Zii Jia concluded last December after the player secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. – Bernama
