IF you are a huge Disney fan, you are in for a treat as the entertainment behemoth recently announced its Disney adventure cruise. Set to sail from Singapore on Dec 15 next year, guests are invited on board to experience the magical world of Disney.
The cruise will be filled with fun escapades and experiences at sea, inspired by the 100 years of tales from Disney, Marvel and Pixar. theSun had the privilege of getting the first look into the upcoming adventure cruise.
Cruising fun
An entertaining adventure is promised for guests of the cruise such as encounters with beloved characters from its franchises, Broadway-style shows and thrilling themed parks.
The upper deck alone, for instance, has attractions that fulfil an ardent fan’s wildest Disney dreams.
Kicking off strong is its Marvel Landing, where guests can live out their superhero fantasies through Avengers-like adventures.
Its Ironcycle Test Run, a 250m rollercoaster, invites guests to drive Tony Stark’s latest Ironcycle prototype on a high-speed circuit and be thrown up to 30ft in the air.
The Pym Quantum Racers tests the guests’ driving skills with Pym Tech-modified mini-cars on an oversized toy set track. Additionally, guests can ride a Nova Corp Bass Jumper at the Groot Galaxy Spin.
Guests can also opt for the Toy Story Place section for some water fun. Designed for families with young children, the area features a large family pool, multiple whirlpools, towering water slides and interactive splash pads.
But of course, what is Disney without its memorable music? To enjoy some classic Disney tunes, guests can head over to the Walt Disney Theatre. They can catch two exclusive musical productions: Remember and Disney Seas the Adventure.
Remember is a heartwarming tale revolving around the duo from Disney-Pixar’s Wall-E. The latter is a production that aims to sweep guests on a musical journey through stories featuring well-known characters from the franchise.
Culinary odyssey
Aside from entertainment, the cruise is also inviting guests on a culinary odyssey. On deck, meals are served as a way for guests to experience Disney stories through immersive theming and signature Disney entertainment.
As such, guests will enjoy rotational dining, in which guests have three Disney dining experiences during their voyage, with a preset dining schedule included with each booking.
Each guest will dine at one of the ship’s two entertainment restaurants: Navigator’s Club or Hollywood Spotlight Club. The best part about both venues is that they feature special appearances and interactions with iconic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck.
In addition to themed restaurants, the cruise also provides premium dining and casual eatery offerings. Palo Trattoria and Mike & Sulley’s – Flavours of Asia are its main stars for premium dining.
Guests who dine at Palo Trattoria can expect to indulge in Italian delicacies and exceptional wines, exclusively for adults.
As for Mike & Sulley’s – Flavours of Asia, the restaurant has four distinct Japanese culinary experiences: a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a lively teppanyaki room, a chic bar with omakase-style dining and an outdoor sushi and sashimi offering.
Reservations (with an additional charge) are required for both restaurants.
Comfort first
While fun is prioritised on the cruise, guests’ comfort comes first. For the ultimate comfort, the cruise is equipped with thoughtful amenities and family-friendly conveniences, ensuring guests of all ages are cared for.
The structure of its staterooms is evidence of this. Most of the main staterooms come with an abundance of space, featuring Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept, with a sink and shower in one room and a sink and toilet in a separate room.
Two guests, as a result, can get ready at once. The room’s spacious nature is also reflected in its bed frames as it is elevated to allow guests to store suitcases and other bulky items that are especially important for family travel.
Those who seek a luxurious stay can opt for the multiple concierge suites. Concierge guests are given more privileges, including access to exclusive areas such as private retreats, luxury shopping and first-class spa and fitness facilities.
They also enjoy complimentary refreshments and gourmet bites throughout the day.
Exclusive adventures
The cruise’s magic also lies in its curated experiences for guests. There are dedicated spaces made just for adults and kids, allowing everyone to choose their adventure.
The spaces curated for adults include a variety of restaurants, bars and lounges. To unwind, adults can head to spots such as the Buccaneer Bar and Market Bar, where refreshing beverages and alcoholic drinks are served.
Relaxation also awaits adult guests at the spa. They can pamper themselves through massages, facials, acupuncture, wellness beauty and haircare treatments for those aged 13 and older.
The cruise’s fitness centre welcomes adults too, enticing fitness junkies with exercise facilities, a juice bar, wellness consultations and a bookable meditation room.
For children, Disney’s Oceaneer Club is an ideal place to be. The venue is designed to encourage exploration and discovery for children between the ages of three and 10.
Fairytale Hall, one of the areas of the club, encourages children to engage in imaginative games as well as arts and crafts. The Walt Disney Imagineering Lab allows children to participate in hands-on activities and creative experiments, including designing and virtually riding their rollercoaster.
The cruise is also made for parents with toddlers as the cruise nursery offers babysitting services. Parents are only required to pay a nominal fee to place their toddlers in the whimsical environment inspired by the beloved universe.
Bookings for the cruise will open from Dec 10 this year, with further details revealed on Nov 14.
