THERE will be a welcome Mediterranean touch at Big Apple Restaurant in Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur for its Christmas Eve Buffet dinner (on Dec 24), Christmas Hi-Tea brunch (Dec 25), and New Year’s Eve buffet dinner (Dec 31).

This is due to the hotel’s new one-Michelin-star executive chef Abri Ali (who is of Algerian descent, but grew up in Italy) who wants to offer diners a range of delights that will appeal to a wide spectrum of tastes.

Chef Abri said: “Personally, I would love to recommend our specialties, which are roast Christmas turkey with chestnuts, roasted chicken with honey and sesame seeds, slow roasted prime beef, and boneless leg of lamb.

“Apart from that, a myriad palate of mouth-watering dishes will be served, such as steamed Brussels sprout with Alfredo sauce, chicken cordon bleu, assorted mushroom ala Greque, smoked salmon roulade with caviar, and also our sweet temptations such as Christmas spiced cake, panettone, Christmas pudding with creme Anglaise, and assorted macaroons and Christmas themed pastries.”

During a press preview for the Christmas Eve buffet, we were not only blown away by Big Apple’s delicious signature items, but also how by beautiful they all were.

The Mediterranean cuisine-inspired appetizers such as the assorted mushroom ala Greque, grilled eggplant with Parmesan cheese and tabbouleh were all fresh, light and celebrated the flavours of the ingredients.

There is also a well-stocked salad bar, cheeses, and cold cuts; Asian appetizers (pasembor, rojak buah, kerabu mango); an ice display, and the mignonettes (a wide selection of seafood as well as accompaniments); soup (and a huge selection of breads to go with it); pizzas shawarma; pasta; hot dishes (ayam masak ros, beef stroganoff, kimchi fried rice), and a wide variety of desserts including cakes, Christmas yule logs, and a chocolate fountain.

Other than the delicious spread prepared by the hotel’s team of chefs, there will be activities lined up for the entire family to enjoy.
