Report: Jaguars LB Jacobs (torn ACL) out for season

26 Sep 2020 / 02:29 H.

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Leon Jacobs will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday.

Jacobs was carted off the field in the opening minutes of the Jaguars' 31-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

Jacobs, 24, was engaged at the line of scrimmage during a running play with Miami tight ends Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe when the injury occurred. His right leg appeared to buckle and Smythe then fell on him, prompting Jacobs to fall awkwardly to the turf.

Jacobs has recorded three tackles in three games this season. He has collected 66 tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery in 29 career games (12 starts) in three seasons with the Jaguars.

Cassius Marsh and Dakota Allen appear in line to handle increased defensive snaps for the Jaguars (1-2), who return to action on Oct. 4 at the Cincinnati Bengals.
