SEOUL: The Seoul city government on Monday announced toughened antivirus measures until the end of the year, including reduced public transport by night and a ban on rallies involving 10 or more people, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The measures will take effect Tuesday under a new campaign named âEmergency pause period for 10 million citizensâ amid a spike in new Covid-19 cases in Seoul and the greater capital area.
At midnight Monday, the same region will raise its social distancing rules to Level 2, the third highest of five levels.
Acting Seoul Mayor Seo Jeong-hyup also said in a virtual press briefing that the city government will enforce stricter social distancing rules at 10 key facilities, including nursing homes and restaurants.
Under Level 2, gatherings involving 100 or more people are banned, while nightclubs and other high-risk entertainment facilities must suspend their business.
Restaurants are allowed to serve food until 9pm, with only takeout and delivery services available afterward.
Indoor dining is not allowed in cafes throughout the day, and only takeout and delivery services are available.
Indoor sports facilities are required to halt their operations after 9pm, and public facilities will need to meet an admissions cap of 30 percent.
Sports events should have only 10 per cent of their maximum capacity. â Bernama
