An Indonesian woman was caught posing as a Batik Air stewardess at an airport after failing recruitment and lying to her family.
AN Indonesian woman recently went viral after she was caught allegedly pretending to be a Batik Air stewardess.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday (January 6) at around 8pm, according to Indonesian news portal Kompas.
The woman has since apologised for her actions, according to a TikTok video.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Commissioner Yandri Mono, confirmed that Batik Air cabin crew initially noticed inconsistencies in the 23-year-old woman’s uniform design, arousing suspicion.

Acting on their suspicions, the cabin crew reported the matter to aviation security officers, and the woman’s scheme was swiftly foiled.
“After being questioned, it turned out she was not a Batik Air employee. She was then taken to the police station,” Yandri was quoted as saying.
Police later discovered during questioning that the woman had previously applied for a position at the airline but failed to pass the recruitment process.
Out of embarrassment, she reportedly pretended to her family that she had been hired by the airline, which is why she wore the uniform during a flight to Jakarta.
“She wore the airline uniform so her family would believe her,” he added.
It was also discovered that the woman had obtained the stewardess uniform, along with other accessories, through an online shop. She reportedly told police that she intended to change out of the uniform as soon as she landed in her hometown of Palembang.
