KUALA LUMPUR: The use of artificial intelligence to draft official correspondence will enhance administrative efficiency pragmatically.
The Munsyi Muda Bahasa Kebangsaan Secretariat (SEMUA) welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement on the initiative.
It stated this forward-thinking approach ensures strong governance and aligns with national digital transformation goals.

AI will assist in preparing government letters and Cabinet papers for review and finalisation by officials.
“AI will serve as a productivity tool, not a decision-maker, allowing civil servants to focus on policy analysis,” SEMUA said.
The secretariat emphasised public sector AI use is guided by clear policies like the National AI Action Plan 2026-2030.
It added this ensures ethical, secure, and responsible implementation through frameworks like the National AI Office.
SEMUA stressed AI must operate within closed, sovereign systems with strict human oversight and access controls.
It acknowledged concerns about potential misuse but believes the core issue is governance, training, and disciplined use.
The group highlighted AI’s potential to strengthen decision-making and improve public service quality.
On January 5, the prime minister directed ministries to expedite online processes as part of bureaucratic reform.
This directive includes using AI to draft letter responses before refinement by human officials. – Bernama
