A Form Three student died in a collision on Jalan Kepong, Kuala Terengganu, while on his way to pick up his sister for their first day of school
KUALA TERENGGANU: A Form Three student was killed in a road accident on his first day of the new school term.
The male student, Noor Hazimi Noor Hashim, died at the scene after his motorcycle was struck by a car on Jalan Kepong this morning.
Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said police received a call about the incident at 7.55 am.
Preliminary investigations found the victim was riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle from the direction of a Caltex petrol station.
His motorcycle was hit by a Perodua Axia car travelling from Kampung Serada towards Titian Baru, Tepoh.
“The accident caused Noor Hazimi to die at the scene, while the driver of the Axia did not sustain any injuries,” Azli said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The victim’s father, Noor Hashim Puteh, 55, said his son was on his way home to Kampung Belukar Sukai after refuelling.
He said his son had intended to pick up his 14-year-old sister at home before riding to school together on the motorcycle.
