Johor Health Department deploys contract medical officers to ease strain at Sultanah Aminah Hospital and other facilities facing doctor shortages.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Health Department has mobilised contract medical officers to address shortages at several state hospitals, including Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
The department stated that several improvement measures are being implemented in stages at HSA to ease the strain on health services.
These measures include optimising patient flow processes, coordinating clinical assignments, and maintaining continuous collaboration with relevant parties.
“JKNJ greatly appreciates the commitment shown by all medical teams and, at the same time, hopes for the public’s understanding of the challenges currently faced by the public health system,” the statement said.
The department acknowledged a recent media report highlighting the shortage of medical officers and strain on services at HSA.
Patient safety remains the top priority despite the hospital facing various challenges as the main referral centre for the Southern Region.
These challenges include clinical service management and patient flow, particularly at the Emergency and Trauma Department and the Medical Ward.
“The medical team will continue to carry out their responsibilities with full professionalism despite the demanding workload,” it said.
