Defence minister to issue statement on MAF procurement

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will issue a statement tomorrow on a procurement matter involving the Malaysian Armed Forces.

BANGI: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will issue a statement tomorrow on a procurement matter involving the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

Communications Minister and MADANI government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the matter was raised during the MADANI 2026 Government Retreat today.

“The issue concerning the MAF’s procurement was raised today during the retreat,” he said in a press conference.

Fahmi stated that the Defence Minister would address the matter publicly tomorrow.

The retreat was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Cabinet ministers, and state government leaders.

Fahmi added that the government stressed the need to address all national issues comprehensively to prevent public misperception.

“It is important for leaders, especially Cabinet members, to ensure that accurate information on any issue reaches the public immediately,” he said.

He cited past cases as lessons for ensuring issues are dealt with thoroughly and transparently.

Media reports earlier indicated the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recorded a senior MAF officer’s statement today.

The officer was questioned to assist an investigation into alleged fund misuse within the force.
