AC Milan salvage a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina with a 90th-minute Christopher Nkunku strike, staying second as rivals Inter prepare to face Napoli
AC Milan missed the chance to join Inter Milan at the Serie A summit after a dramatic late 1-1 draw at Fiorentina on Sunday.
Christopher Nkunku lashed home the 90th-minute leveller at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to deny the hosts just a third win of a troubled campaign.
Fiorentina had looked set for victory after Pietro Comuzzo headed home the opener in the 66th minute.
The hosts came close to winning twice in stoppage time, with new signing Marco Brescianini hitting the bar and Mike Maignan saving at the feet of Moise Kean.
“We played well in the first half and created a lot of chances that we failed to convert,” said Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri to DAZN.
“We’re second in the league and we need to keep it up, but we also need to be more clinical.”
Milan risk falling five points behind the leaders later on Sunday as Inter face reigning champions Napoli.
Antonio Conte’s Napoli, trailing Milan by two points, will take second spot with a win at the San Siro.
Fiorentina remain in 18th place with 14 points, two behind Genoa who sit just outside the relegation zone.
Paolo Vanoli’s team have lost just once in their last five matches, with fans applauding them off after a second consecutive match where they conceded a late equaliser.
