A man pleads guilty to stealing gold and jewellery worth RM254,000 from the Melaka State Financial Officer’s official residence, with sentencing set for Thursday.
MELAKA: A man pleaded guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court to stealing and dealing in stolen gold and jewellery worth RM254,000 from the State Financial Officer.
Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah set this Thursday to hear the facts of the case and sentence Mohd Zakuan Abdul Rashid, 35.
On the first count, Mohd Zakuan was charged with stealing items including a gold bracelet, diamond rings, diamond bracelets, 17 gold bars and RM20 in cash.
The items were taken from the official residence of State Financial Officer Datuk Salhah Salleh at Bukit Peringgit between June 2024 and December 2025.
He also pleaded guilty to a second charge of trading in the stolen property in Kampung Paya Rumput during the same period.
In a related case, gold trader Noazira Jaafar, 41, pleaded not guilty to dealing with the stolen property.
Her lawyer, Ishak Kari, represented her, and the court allowed bail of RM20,000.
She was also ordered to report to the nearest police station every month, with the court setting Feb 10 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Asri Abd Rahman Sidik prosecuted in both cases.
