Deputy PM Ahmad Zahid contributes RM300,000 to Wanita UMNO’s Skuad Sayang 3K, praised for frontline disaster relief and community welfare work.
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced a RM300,000 contribution to the National Skuad Sayang 3K.
The welfare, health and safety squad is led by Wanita UMNO and operates as a frontline NGO in disaster management.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also UMNO president, praised the squad’s active presence at relief centres and in affected areas during crises.
“This is a clear manifestation of Wanita UMNO’s concern for the people,” he said at a tea reception.
He noted the squad’s commendable efforts have been formally recognised by the Social Welfare Department.
Wanita UMNO chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad is the chief commissioner of the registered NGO.
She stated the squad operates independently without being bound by bureaucratic directives.
“The National Skuad Sayang 3K steps in, not with grand promises, but with small gestures that make a real difference,” Noraini said.
She highlighted the squad’s role in assisting underprivileged households, the elderly living alone, and single mothers.
Additional contributions from senior UMNO leaders brought the total donations received to RM600,000.
UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was among the other contributors.
They were joined by UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
